Welcome Message
From Committee Chair Meredith McQuaid

Greetings!

On behalf of the University of Minnesota, I would like to welcome you to the U.S.-China Principals Summit.

The University of Minnesota’s China Center is proud to be hosting this significant event. We are confident that participating principals of U.S. and Chinese high schools will come away from this summit with big ideas and renewed appreciation for how much more we can accomplish together.

Education is highly valued in the U.S. and in China. As such, both countries have some of the best educators in the world. This summit will bring together these talented principals to exchange information on a wide variety of education topics, including a comparison of the U.S. and China educational systems, the shift from high school to higher education, curriculum reform in both countries, and international exchange and cooperation. Governmental and nongovernmental support of education is more important today than it has ever been in both countries and this summit will help educators support each other.

As principals, you are in a unique position to consider these questions at both a macro and a micro level. Working with your peers from China, discussing revolutionary and evolutionary changes occurring at home and abroad, we believe, will provide you with food for thought and ideas for sustenance.

Join us for a historic opportunity this April 28-May 1, 2008. We look forward to seeing you!
