China Center Friends Events

May 2006 – The China Center Friends hosted a lecture by Dr. Mark Lee, a NASA scientist, who discussed "The Starting Point of Life."

May 2005 – The China Center Friends hosted a spring American-style picnic for the families of the China Center Friends and supporters.

April 2005 – The China Center Friends hosted an exciting evening at the Children’s Theater Company for an unforgettable performance of The Monkey King, a play based on Wu Chen-En’s A Journey to the West, one of the most celebrated Chinese novels.

February 2005 – The China Center Friends hosted the China Center New Year's Celebration.  Dr. Richard Poor, a professor in the Department of Art History talked about Chinese porcelain and connected the styles of ancient China with those of today. Chris Madonna shared select pieces of his porcelain collection with the guests.

November 2004 – The China Center Friends sponsored an exhibition of beautiful watercolor paintings by artist Song Jingsheng at the University’s Campus Club.

July 2004 – China Center Friends sponsored a performance by pianist Di Wu at Hamline University’s Sundin Hall. Her father, renowned opera singer Peiwen Wu, joined her on stage.

May 7, 2004 – The China Center friends hosted a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony and lecture, “Tea and Cancer Prevention,” by Dr. Zigang Dong of the Hormel Institute.
